In this part of the world, learning another foreign language or becoming bi-lingual or multilingual is a considered a waste of time and effort because the question is, "What is the use of learning another language?" Some would ask further, "even this one the English that I am speaking now, wetin he do for me?" 

Yes, that is usually the response we get when this question is posed to someone to maximize the advantage of learning a foreign language. The problem is many have not reasoned beyond the language acquisition. They assume that after gaining proficiency in that particular language there is nothing more to that.

Well, you don't need to learn Spanish to get a job or go to Spain. But, learning a Spanish language could open a vista of opportunities for you if you could speak the language. If you studied Spanish in the university or you Modern European Languages (MEL) and you think that you have wasted your time in the university, I think you are dulling yourself.
